Cheryl Lovejoy
Design Director
“I appreciate good design. I love when I can take someone’s request and bring something better than expected. Motion is a great medium to “wow” our clients.”
What is your role at Waltz?
After working at several other creative agencies for many years, I landed at Waltz Creative in 2013, where I’m now a Design Director. My college major was graphic design, so web, animation, dynamic presentations, video, and interactive ePublications were all self-taught. I’ve always enjoyed learning and pushing myself into new avenues of design.
Tell us about your history and experience.
After graduating in 2002, I started design work at Never Boring Design in Modesto where the owner was really big on social skills, along with drawing and illustration skills. Computers were there to enhance, but we would start most projects with a piece of paper and pencil to begin the design process and exploration. I quickly learned a lot about design, signage, and large scale printed graphics.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
Community involvement is important to me. Lately, I’ve been donating blood; it’s an easy way to give back. I’ve also helped teach art classes at my children’s school and volunteer with my daughter’s Girl Scout troop.
We’re an athletic family. I enjoy running and ran my first half marathon in 2019. My daughter plays soccer and my son plays baseball and flag football, so I have fun being their biggest fan.
Our family loves to explore the outdoors, so we also enjoy camping. We have a National Parks map that allows us to check off the parks we’ve visited. We are very lucky to live so close to Pinnacles National Park.
What do you like about working at Waltz Creative?
At Waltz, my coworkers are my extended family. I LOVE design and having great people to work with makes everything better. Peanut butter and jelly. Working here is fun and exciting. I enjoy the variety of clients and challenges they all bring. I’ve learned about so many industries that I would have never known about otherwise.
