What is your role at Waltz?

As a member of the graphic design team, all of my firsts at Waltz have helped boost my skills to the next level – brochure and logo design, websites, animations, and so many other projects. Taking on new challenges keeps my creative energy bubbling at the surface. I didn’t study graphic design in school so when I started working at Waltz in 2015, everything had a steep learning curve and kicked my butt. I’m always trying to be mindful of budget, making sure I’m following best practices, and allowing myself freedom to explore new ideas. It’s a humbling experience, but the end result is always confidence boosting for me. It keeps me eager for more.

Tell us about your history and experience.

My first job was at a creative agency, where designers were also account managers working directly with clients; a lesson in effective communication. Often, they needed help honing in their vision with our creative help. “Make the logo bigger” might actually mean giving it more hierarchy and prominence instead of making it physically larger. These are creative challenges I enjoy solving.

My degree in college was Visual Public Art with an emphasis in Alternative Photography and Gallery Installation, which really taught me to consider the end user in everything – how they’ll interact with, use, read, or watch anything I create.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

When I have time, I’m busy in the kitchen cooking and plating fancy dinners, testing my culinary skills. I’m a true water baby and love floating in a pool, river, lake or ocean; it doesn’t matter to me. The rest of the time, I’m unwinding with friends and family on day trips or long vacations.

What do you like about working at Waltz Creative?

The people. We all seem to genuinely get along and enjoy each other’s company. It’s not a competitive environment where we are withholding information to get ahead. Everyone supports/challenges/encourages the growth of each other. It makes for an enjoyable workday and allows you to feel successful, that you’re contributing to the success of the company and of your peers.
