Sara Frey

Graphic Designer

“I love the puzzle of designing creative solutions to meet a client’s needs and making a difference in their business.”

What is your role at Waltz?

As a designer, I’m always eager to learn something new and try my hand at unique branding projects for clients, helping to reinvent their identities. Finding ways to incorporate eye-catching illustrations whenever possible is an ever-present goal on my projects. Many of our clients are focused on capturing data and turning it into informative marketing pieces for their audiences. I enjoy taking those metrics and visualizing them in a way that’s easy to absorb.

Tell us about your history and experience.

Before joining Waltz in 2019, I honed my design skills at places like Salesforce, MIGHTY Design and Karma Design. At San José State University, I earned a BFA in graphic design as well as a minor in art history and visual culture, which gave me a background in understanding that fascinating thread that connects centuries of fine art and design to what we’re creating at Waltz every day.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

So many things! Knitting is a major creative outlet for me—I always have a project on my needles! I also enjoy collecting houseplants, working in the garden, trying new crafts, and reading (especially Stephen King!). On the weekends, my husband and I love visiting local coffee shops or taking our dogs on adventures.

What do you like about working at Waltz Creative?

The unlimited support from coworkers and feeling like I have a second family—they always have my back—and the constant challenges that help me improve and grow in my design skills. It’s never quiet or stagnant around here!
